FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Dear reader

This issue of the Indian Concrete Journal as you may tell, is a special one. It marks the resurgence of ICJ
after a brief intermission. This issue of ICJ is dedicated to all the readers. Many of you wrote to us – letters,
email, and through social media to express your support for ICJ and request that we continue to publish
this journal. The remarkable and resounding response encouraged us to continue the journey and also
mark the occasion with a collector’s edition - one that we hope you will cherish for years to come.

The Indian Concrete Journal has enjoyed the readership of nearly 4 generations of Civil engineers across
India and the world. This is a compilation of:

• The first ICJ article from August 1927,

• An article from the volume published on the day of our independence and
• Top 2 most cited articles in every decade since 1970.

When we first started to conceptualize this edition we wondered what principles we would use to
shortlist a mere handful of papers from a vast 90+ year old legacy. The SCOPUS and Web of science citation
databases guided us in this selection. For the curious minds, the issue includes a note on these databases
and the methodology.

We would like to acknowledge Associate Professor Shashank Bishnoi, and PhD students – Meenakshi
Sharma and Sreejith Krishnan, IIT Delhi, for their support in curating this issue.

We do hope you enjoy this issue. We would love to hear from you. We intend to make the new editions
bigger and better than before and look forward to walking this journey with each of you.
